What about STNA’s? CNA’s ? Why are they always left out!!???
I am a nurse I love what I do. I have taken money out of my personal account to try to keep my staff moral up. Our owner has not paid overtime and we are all working 16-20 hour shifts. We have watched our beloved resident die, staff members walk out, tears and much more than I care to say. Our people in the outside are afraid of us like we are plagued we are no longer welcome to stop and visit anyone because of this. Social isolation is an understatement. Amid threats that we too will quit, there is a solid few including myself that keep going back. I have reached out to officials and local groups begging for any light to brighten our efforts With little to no response. We are called hero’s but we feel defeated, we are tired and hungry yet afraid to take our masks off to eat. We sleep in our cars sometimes because driving would not be safe. We are not hero’s we are people that have a commitment and pride for the care we provide. But we need hero’s now to lift us up and let us know we are appreciated. Our front office staff and even those who should be here to help are all working remotely. A day off would be nice but if my patients need me I’ll be there. So to anyone who reads this my heart is bleeding for my staff and that of humanity. Saying you support us is kind show it instead. It’s so needed.
