(WASHINGTON, DC) – House Representative Carolyn Maloney introduced a bill on 5/6/2020 to forgive student loans (public and private) for healthcare professionals who are fighting coronavirus on the front lines. The bill would essentially waive student loans and forgive the debt for nurses, doctors, and other licensed professionals.

The bill forgives loans incurred from medical school or other professional education. There is “absolutely no cap,” Maloney said on a press call.

Nurses, doctors, rad techs, and other healthcare professionals would be eligible. A special team would be formed “to determine whether an individual has made significant contributions to the medical response.”
